Workshop 1

WHAT: This Workshop is for teens entering 9th-12th grade who feels anxious or stressed by social media platforms. Sometimes they don’t even realize they can feel emotional or physical effects from constant interaction with their devices. Learning how to have a healthier relationship with technology will help balance life’s ups and downs.

The first hour will be similar to a coaching session with interactive questions and discussions. In a coaching relationship the coach’s job is to empower the student to find what solutions are best for them. We will be using real time surveys that will ask what emotions come up when engaging in social media. Then we will explore different strategies and tools to help in the moment. Real-time surveys provide a way for teens to share their thoughts—especially those who may feel uncomfortable speaking up in person.

The second hour they will build resilience and learn about the laws of attraction by setting intentions and learning how to quiet the mind. We’ll use music set to specific frequencies, similar to the calming background music you often hear in a spa. They can sit in a chair, or on the floor on a yoga mat, whichever is more comfortable for them. This practice helps with clarity, focus, creativity and relaxation. This tool helps them slow down and strengthen the connection with themselves.

WHERE: We were fortunate that The First Congregational Church in Shrewsbury offered space to rent. The Workshops will be held on the 2nd floor in room 215. Signs will be posted to help guide you to the right place.

WHEN: The Workshops will be offered during the following times in the summer:
